The Brief

Early in 2019 we were asked to complete our most ambitious project yet – the complete refurbishment of a executive lounge and basement sports bar, both within a premiereship football stadium. Needless to say, we jumped at the chance to put our mark on an iconic venue so close to home. The client wanted two very different environments; one high end for entertaining VIPS, and a more casual bar for players and fans to unwind. Despite the different functions, the spaces had to feel like connected – like two sides of the same coin

Initial Design

When scoping out a job like this, the first thing we do is to send in our crack design team. We began our work with the client getting to know their exact needs, making notes about any ideas they already had, and understanding how the spaces would be used by their guests. We also had to consider how the spaces would work alongside the existing functional areas of the stadium.

After putting all of this into consideration, our designers drew up the sketches that would later become the finished product.

The Materials

With the design finished, we then needed to think about the materials that would bring the space to life. For the director’s lounge, we pushed in hard on functional refinement, using brass accents, and stunning sequoia wood for the statement table in the centre. For long meetings and even longer matches, comfort comes first, so there was no better option than premium leather for the seating.

For the sports bar, we needed something functional that could also take a beating and take on more character over time. We chose to use rustic pine, bare concrete, bronze, oak and cork. We also added black metal trims, meshes and details to create a more intimate feel.
