The Project

During the lockdown, we were contacted by a Brighton homeowner who needed to give their living room a brand new bookcase and media centre. We are passionate about creating better living spaces – especially as families are spending more time at home – so naturally jumped at the chance to work on the project.

We visited the property, paying attention to the room’s natural flow, the existing decor, and the space we had to work with. We worked with Huuk Architects to create the bespoke fitted furniture plans, based on our measurements and material recommendations.

Once the customer approved the drawings, we began fabricating the individual pieces in our Brighton-based workshop. We used UK grown oak for most of the build, finished in heatproof PU lacquer to prevent damage, like coffee cup rings.

We created cabinets and drawers out of spray-finished MRMDF to match the room’s colour for the media centre. These were all fitted with touch latches to maintain a modern, minimal look with a tactile opening mechanism. The cabinets provide easy access for TV cabling and storage space for different devices.

Finally, we added brass embellishments and customisable strip lighting to made-to-measure grooves in the joinery.

Once we had fabricated the full project, we carefully disassembled the whole item and transported it safely to be fit on site. By working in this way, we were able to minimise disruption and person-to-person contact for our customer.
